A Brownsville family is asking the public for assistance to help determine how their young daughter was struck by a car on Monday.

K’Shaun Williams told News 12 his 8-year-old daughter Kamiya was walking home from Carter G. Woodson Park when she was struck by a car. Kamiya William’s body was thrown into the air and slammed back down onto the street.

"Please come forward, and you hurt my daughter, do the right thing,” Williams said.

Williams suffered a broken hip, broken leg, broken pelvis and has a concussion."

“The most hurtful thing you can imagine,” Williams added. “Your daughter is there in pain and as a father I’m here to protect her and there's nothing I can do."

Police say the driver was traveling east on Sutter Avenue in a grey sedan and fled immediately after the crash.

Kamiyah Williams remains in the hospital. The family is asking anyone with information to give the police a call.
