Some Brownsville residents say the United Postal Service is no longer delivering their mail due to broken mailboxes in their complex's lobby.
Residents at the Marcus Garvey Houses on East New York Avenue say they were told two months ago that they had to pick up their mail from the post office while the broken mailbox in the building lobby was fixed.
Today, the residents say their mailbox is still broken and the post office will no longer allow tenants to pick up their mail at the Bristol Street location. They say their letters are being returned to sender.
Tenants say they understand the post office cannot continually hold their mail for them, but that the New York City Housing Authority needs to fix the problem.
The NYCHA tells News 12 it already made arrangements with a vendor to repair the mailboxes. It also says it will coordinate with the post office to install locks once repairs are complete.
