Tenants in two Brownsville buildings say they?ve been living without electricity for weeks while Con Ed and the landlord point fingers.

Residents at 661 and 663 Powell St. have thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of food and are stocking up on batteries. Con Ed says it disconnected the power due to chronic non payment to the tune of $10,000. The utility also says the landlord must make electrical repairs before power can be restored. The Department of Housing Preservation and Development says the properties have more than 30 open violations.

Landlord Howard Stern, of Renaissance Realty, says Con Ed is to blame because the utility has failed to maintain the electrical infrastructure.
