The Metropolitan Transportation Authority officially activated its automated bus lane enforcement cameras Monday along the B26 route in Brooklyn.
This marks the fourth activation of able cameras in 2023 and the 20th in total citywide.
The cameras capture drivers violating bus lane rules in real-time and are aimed at deterring motorists from blocking these lanes to improve bus service and reduce crashes.
The Department of Transportation says it will issue warnings for the first 60 days before any fines are given.
