A Bushwick bass player’s outdoor jam session turned sour last Tuesday when his upright bass went missing.
Dan, a bass player for five years, says he frequently practices outside his apartment to enjoy the weather.
“I was practicing outside, put the bass down, went upstairs to brush my teeth, came back five minutes later, and it was gone,” he said.
Surveillance video shows a man lingering near the bass while talking on the phone. Moments later, the man loads it into a Subaru and drives off.
Dan said the bass holds sentimental value.
“It’s just one I’ve connected with. It even matches my hair color,” he said.
The bass, valued at $4,000, has been reported stolen to the police.
“I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I just want it back in one piece,” Dan said.
