A Bushwick resident is preparing to make a fashion statement during Brooklyn Fashion Weekend.

Ely Beckman is gearing up for his seventh fashion show. The 25-year-old designer has already shown his Vaella collection in Manhattan and Miami. Beckman, who started designing clothes a year ago, says most of his line is inspired by the human form.

The Vaella line includes leather jackets, skirts and blouses. Beckman says his line caters to all types of customers. After the Brooklyn Fashion Weekend, Beckman plans to take his fashion line overseas to Europe.

Brooklyn Fashion Weekend will be held May 5 through May 7 at the Tobacco Warehouse in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
