Buttermilk Channel, a Carroll Gardens staple, is set to close after 16 years of operation within the area.
Residents told News 12 the place had become beloved for its consistency in high quality foods, blend of upscale and approachable foods, as well as a décor that drew in customers time after time.
"It's a real local joint its always family's in here and it feels like you’re going into someone's home, and it's rare to find that in New York and places like this are old and unfortunately many are closing," said customer Arjun Srivatsa.
One customer says she's made it a point to come multiple times throughout the month to celebrate what used to be her favorite restaurant when she lived in the area.
"My mother was in town and so we went, and I met a friend. I am doing dinner tonight. I’ve had brunch here before, and I am enjoying it,' said Karli Colbert.
Customers told News 12 that the décor, and the can't-skip fried chicken will be what they miss most.
Owner Doug Cowell says they are proud of the run their restaurant had, with families bringing multiple generations to the bistro over many years.
"We've been here for 16 terrific years, it’s been a beautiful run but now it is time to say goodbye. Our time in this location has come to an end," he said.
When asked if a new location was in the works, Cowell said they would be taking a well-earned break come the new year but, "anything's possible, you never know."
