The members of a Bronx activist group have set their sights on cleaning up the borough while also addressing other pressing issues in the community. Lou Rocco, founder of the Westchester Square Civic Association, says he wants to work with residents and local churches to improve the East Tremont neighborhood. The organization has applied for nonprofit status and has received its first grant of $1,000 from the Love Your Block Citizens Committee of New York. As an extra incentive, Rocco says anyone who helps maintain the area will receive a gift card to The Home Depot.
