Officials say the Bronx Community Pride Center will be closing its doors after 16 years of service.
The announcement comes one day after its former Executive Director Lisa Winters was charged with stealing more than $143,000 from the organization.
The Board of Directors, who voted to close the organization, said June 30 will be its last day. The board cited economic problems, such as debt and lack of funding, as reasons for the decision.
Winters is being charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records. Center officials say they are making arrangements for services to be provided by another organization in The Bronx.
