Residents at a Bronx housing project will soon get new security cameras and other amenities thanks to recent participatory budget voting.

Nearly 5,000 New York City residents took part in the first voting to determine how the City Council spends millions of dollars in tax money.

The Bronx will get $525,000 for new security cameras in several housing projects, including the New York City Housing Authority's Mill Brook Houses.

Tenants at the Mill Brook Houses are also excited about the money being allocated to them for new parks and playgrounds. In all, $500,000 will be spent on the improvements at the Saint Anns Avenue complex and another housing project in Manhattan.

"I was proud to be part of this process that got so many community members working together to make a difference," Councilwoman Melissa Mark Viverito said in a statement.
