At least one person is dead after a car plunged into Newtown Creek Monday morning. Officials tell News 12 Brooklyn that the incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. Police say the car crashed through a fence after the driver lost control of the car on Apollo Street.
The deceased man has been identified as 27-year-old Derek Winessky, of Valley Stream, Long Island.According to officials, one other person was pulled out and taken to the hospital. Police say they do not know yet what may have caused the accident.
