A Brooklyn family was left homeless after an out-of-control car crashed into their Boerum Hill home Wednesday.
The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. Investigators say the driver of a Dodge Durango was parallel parking when she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and slammed into the first floor of a brownstone, leaving a gaping hole.
In an apparent state of panic, the female driver then sped forward, hitting another car and sideswiping three parked vehicles before the Dodge flipped over and landed on its side in the middle of Wyckoff Street.
The driver was extracted out of the overturned vehicle by firefighters and taken to a hospital.
Except for the driver, no one was hurt in the accident because the residents of the brownstone left their house shortly before the car smashed into it.
The family will stay with relatives until the front of their house is repaired. They say they hope to be home by Christmas.
