A Bronx bodega in Castle Hill is now offering all-natural plant-based items on its breakfast and lunch items.
My Deli, along with two Brooklyn delis, are now offering vegan food as part of a three-month pilot program called Plantega. Nil Zacharias, the co-founder of the initiative, says neighborhoods, particularly communities of color, are underserved when it comes to healthy food items.
The bodega owner says vegan is growing in popularity among customers.
Plantega plans to expand to more local delis if the testing phase is successful.
