The MTA says cell service on the northern half of the G train could come as soon as the fall.
They say service will extend from the Court Square station to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station. They say it will also be in the East River tunnel that carries the 4 and 5 lines between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
A spokesperson for the MTA says the connectivity will run underneath the tunnel.
News 12 spoke with commuters like Imani Cook-Gist, who is dialing up her excitement.
"I commute to work every morning and back. If you're running late and you have to email someone or call someone – I think it's perfect for people who desperately need it at times when they're traveling. If the A and C wants to get cell service, that would be amazing," said Cook-Gist.
Cook-Gist could get that wish. The MTA says they plan on integrating cell service into some of the projects happening on sections of the A and C line.
