Three years after Hurricane Sandy sent 9 feet of water into a Coney Island church sanctuary, almost all of the damage is repaired.
A rededication ceremony was held Sunday at the Coney Island Cathedral Church in honor of its renovations.
The church received funding for the repairs from a group called Samaritan's Purse. City Councilman Mark Treyger helped make the connection for the church, which is in his district.
"My job was to bring the pieces together, to connect my neighborhood to a national network," he says.
More renovations are expected to be completed by the end of December.
