A commuter in the Fort Hamilton subway station in Kensington posted a picture on Twitter Wednesday morning of a chalk image of a lynching rope.
The MTA responded that they have a zero-tolerance policy for hate symbols. It said that it would remove the vandalism after investigating.
Within hours, the image was painted over.
 Police say the occurrence is being investigated as a possible bias incident.
