Hundreds of needy Jewish families received gifts of kosher food Thursday to prepare for Rosh Hashanah.
The Shortfront Jewish Community Council in Brighton Beach gave out an assortment of food that included chicken, produce, grape juice and nonperishables.
The Met Council and the Food Bank for New York City organized the event ahead of the Jewish new year celebration.
Nearly 1,200 people benefited from the food drive.
Rosh Hashanah begins the evening of Sunday, Sept. 13.
