Children found unharmed after vehicle stolen near NJ Wawa, police say

Investigators said the driver went into the store while her two children remained inside the vehicle. When the driver returned, the vehicle was gone.

Two children were found unharmed after a vehicle they were inside was stolen early Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded to the Wawa at 101 E. Broad St. at about 1:20 a.m. for a report of a motor vehicle theft, according to Bridgeton police. Investigators said the driver went into the store while her two children remained inside the vehicle.

When the driver returned, the vehicle was gone. Police said the vehicle was recovered shortly afterward with the children still inside and unharmed. The driver fled before police arrived.
