Fans of Caribbean steelpan music have a lot to look forward to this weekend, as the annual Youth Pan Festival is set to return hosted by Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Culture Center.
Organizers says it's a way to get the youth to connect to their culture and celebrate a kind of music and movement that is unique to them but easy for all to enjoy.
The group also highlighted the rich history of Caribbean history in the borough, with leaders like Shirley Chisholm who fought for them to make the community feel at home.
"I think people were attracted to this community because of the event here in Brooklyn. So that attracted, as I said, folks felt that they were able to assimilate much easier into the culture here because of this event," said CLACC-C organizer Yolana Lezama Clark.
