Alibaba has fired a manager accused of sexual assault by a female employee. Wang Chengwen admitted to "intimate acts" with the woman, who alleges she was assaulted by him. The female employee published an 11-page PDF with the allegations, and it went on viral on China's social media site Weibo. Two employees have since resigned as the company began suspending staff members following the accusation. Alibaba CEO Daniel Zhang is vowing to increase protections for women at the company.
Cryptos across the board are having a big weekend. Bitcoin topped $45,000 over the weekend before settling a bit overnight, up around 12% since last week. The second-largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum, crossed the 3,000 mark again this weekend, seeing gains of over 16% on the week. And Dogecoin saw the largest increase over the weekend, peaking at 27 cents on Sunday. The meme-currency is up over 21% since last week.
Tesla is reportedly moving to mandate masks at its battery factory in Nevada. According to the Wall Street Journal, the new rules will apply to all employees regardless of vaccination status. The factory had previously only required masks for those who hadn't received the vaccine. Tesla became the latest to enforce stricter rules following the massive uptick in COVID-19 cases due to the delta variant.
