Bronx residents celebrated Cinco de Mayo Saturday with street festivals, traditional Mexican tacos and Mariachi music.
For Americans of Mexican heritage, the Cinco de Mayo celebration allows them to connect with others like them. Some Latino-Americans see the holiday festivities as a way all Latinos can celebrate the culture together.
The holiday celebrates the day in 1862 when Mexican soldiers defeated the French in the Mexican town of Puebla.
