City breaks ground on $30M reconstruction of Betsy Head Park
The city broke ground Tuesday on a more than $30 million reconstruction project at Betsy Head Park in Brownsville.
It’s one of five in New York City getting renovated through the Anchor Parks Initiative.
Phase one of the reconstruction will include a multipurpose play area, basketball courts, fitness area and skate park.
Phase two, which will begin this summer, will reconstruct the southern portion of the park, including a large field, sports courts, seating areas and a comfort station.
Only the northern part of the park is currently closed for phase one reconstruction. It’s expected to be completed in one year.
