The City Council's Public Safety Committee met Tuesday to discuss how to divide federal funds for 2007. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and representatives from the Office of Emergency Management discussed how they planned to use the funds to make Brooklyn and city streets safer. At the hearing, Kelly said the NYPD is planning to increase the number of school safety officers and ticketing agents in Brooklyn and the city. Kelly says the department will also use part of the funds to install a citywide closed circuit camera system.
