New York City Council members say they've been the victims of vandalism at their homes and offices in response to their support over Drag Story Hour.  

Council Member Shekar Krishnan says that far-right activists have targeted his district at least 10 times over the last six months, including at his home and district office. He says they come with the intention of spewing hate against the LGBTQ+ community.  

Krishnan was joined on Thursday by Council Members Krystal Hudson and Erik Battcher in saying enough is enough. Battcher and Hudson say they’ve also been personally targeted at their homes.  

“This is a program that celebrates love, literacy, and joy and acceptance of all,” said Krishnan. “I think it is crucial that if we are to grow up in a society and a city where everyone is embracing people for who they are, it begins with our children, teaching them the values of inclusivity and tolerance… that is exactly what Drag Story Hour does.” 

The council members say their commitment to bringing Drag Story Hour to libraries across the city is stronger than ever.
