The New York City Council unanimously passed legislation that would allow drivers with time left on their Muni-Meter slips to move their cars to a different meter.
"There will be no threat to those people who take that Muni-Meter receipt and use it at their next stop along our commercial strips," says Councilman James Vacca (D-The Bronx), who proposed the legislation.
However, the law will only allow drivers to move to a meter that costs the same amount or less than the previous parking space.
The bill must still be signed into law by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
