City Councilman Vincent Gentile and other officials on Friday stood outside the entrance to the 77th Street subway station in Brooklyn to call on the MTA to make changes to the R train.
As it's the only subway line to run up and down Fourth Avenue south of 59th Street, commuters tell News 12 they have had enough of its issues.
"I didn't take the R train this morning because I was afraid I was going to be late," Gentile said.
Among the proposed changes are requests for the MTA to add newer trains, speed up installation of countdown clocks, add new audio systems, get rid of the late-night R shuttle at 36th Street and the R line rush-hour special from 95th Street to Chambers Street.
A spokesman for the MTA says a review of the R service has not been scheduled.
