City lawmakers are putting pressure on the NYPD to crack down on mass transit fare evaders.
Lawmakers say that the city is losing hundreds of millions in revenue due to cheats who don't pay up for mass transit.
Members of the City Council are pushing legislation that would require police to submit a report every six months detailing the number of summonses and arrests made for fare evasion.
The lawmakers say that there should be a greater police presence on mass transit to nab cheats and prevent other crimes.
