A Brooklyn day care center facing possible closure now has renewed hope that it can remain open.
Staff members at the Strong Place for Hope Day Care in Red Hook say the city has intervened to help save their building.
The city's Administration for Children's Services recently informed them that it put down a refundable down payment as it weighs buying the building on Clinton Street.
The building houses pre-kindergarten classes for low-income and diverse families, but another buyer recently announced plans to turn it into a private school.
Officials say that as a long-term renter of the building, the city had a contractual agreement that gives it the right to vacate the other sale by agreeing to buy the building at the same price.
