A group of local professors is pushing for changes on Jay Street, claiming it's a danger to both cyclists and pedestrians.
The City Tech educators are hosted a symposium Tuesday night called "Rethinking Jay Street," which will discuss issues plaguing the busy area, such as double-parked cars.
They're also hoping to secure funding from the city to widen the sidewalks and bike lanes.
Several elected officials, transportation groups and residents were expected to be in attendance.
An NYPD spokesperson says the 84th Precinct is aware of the conditions on Jay Street and is addressing it. The 84th Precinct says parking tickets have increased 9 percent, double-parking tickets have increased 3 percent and bike lane tickets have increased 49 percent so far this year on Jay Street.
