Brooklyn residents are taking advantage of a city program aimed at helping New Yorkers start their own businesses.
The city's Department for Small Business Services, or SBS, offers free classes and financial guidance on how to start or maintain a small business.
One of the city's centers for SBS is run by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. They have helped open dozens businesses, including Mexican restaurant Don Nico's.
Don Nico's owner Nicola Maurello says he is thankful SBS gave him the chance to live his American dream.
Since this past January, SBS helped open more than 100 businesses citywide, and about 20 in Brooklyn.
