Bruckner Commons is a thriving shopping corridor, thanks to stores, like Old Navy, AutoZone, ShopRite and a new Starbucks—and there's
more on the way!
Steve Katz, a resident in Clason Point, called into our
Ask the Borough President show over concerns about double parking near here.
Our News 12 crews saw several cars double parked on White Plains Road between Bruckner Boulevard and Turnbull Avenue.
Katz says this has led to near accidents on a regular basis due to the reduced visibility. He says it gets especially busy when kids get out of school.
“As a former middle school principal, I know that when kids come out of school, they're not thinking about cars coming down the street." Katz said. "They're just running around. I'm always afraid that during the day, a kid might dart out between the cars and I might accidentally hit the kid."
A reminder to customers: the stores are all part of Bruckner Commons, and there’s usually plenty of space in their parking lot, and there's no need to double park on the street.
The NYPD told News 12 that last year, officers issues over 10,000 summonses in the 43rd Precinct alone and will continue to monitor the area.
