Residents of Clinton Hill are pushing for Community Board 2 to pass a proposal to rename a street in honor of The Notorious B.I.G.

The proposal is to change St. James Place, between Fulton Street and Gates Avenue, to Christopher Wallace Way. The rapper had grown up on that block.

The push to co-name the street started about five years ago, but did not get anywhere.

Leroy McCarthy, who is a part of the movement to co-name the street, says Borough President Eric Adams, U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, and City Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo have shown their support for the co-naming.

A subcommittee in Community Board 2 also lent its support to the name change. The decision rests with the full board.

In the meantime, artist Vincent Ballentine refurbished his mural of Biggie Smalls’ first album cover to show his support for the proposal.

The votes for the proposal will be tallied on Nov. 14.
