While many are looking to start the Memorial Day weekend outdoors, the weather is not making for the best way to kick off the summer beach season.
With today being the first day all public city beaches are open, Brooklyn residents came to Coney Island in sweatshirts and pants instead of swimsuits.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Labor Day, all beaches will have lifeguards on duty daily.
Some residents say they won't let the weather get them down, while others say they just want some sun.
New this year, residents can also text "beach" to the Health Department at 877-877 to find out about beach closures and water quality.
