The City Island Community Center has reopened its doors after being closed by a July fire at the Nautical Museum above it.
Water damage following the blaze was the major problem facing the community center, according to President Brenda Prohaskn.
?We were able to band-it so we can open for the fall,? Prohaskn said. ?It?s a nice sense of community that everyone wants to support us.?
The center?s reopening provided residents with baked goods, music and a martial arts exhibition.
Community center staff says the center is still waiting for insurance money to complete the renovations.
