Brooklyn community groups gathered at Borough Hall today to pay tribute to young lives lost to violence.
The organizations participated in a youth resource fair to show kids they have options other than violence. Many parents of children that have been lost or hurt by violence took the stage to tell their stories of hurt in the hopes of preventing such tragedies from continuing.
"To lose a child is hard enough but when you lose a child to gun violence it tears you apart," says Mike Tucker, of Lay the Guns Down.
The fair was organized by the borough president's office.
