A street co-naming in Marine Park was held over the weekend to honor fallen firefighter Steven Pollard.
Avenue S and East 35th Street, which is near Pollard's family home, is now known as Firefighter Steven Pollard Way. Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse was joined by members of the Pollard family and FDNY representatives Sunday for the grand unveiling.
Pollard served at the Canarsie-based Ladder 170 before he lost his life in 2019 while responding to a two-car crash on the Mill Basin Bridge.
The council woman said the street co-naming commemorates Pollard's legacy and ultimate sacrifice in serving his community.
