Con Edison is asking for the public's help in finding thieves that are stealing manhole covers from streets and sidewalks.
According to Con Ed officials, more than 30 covers have been stolen in Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx since March. Con Ed believes the covers are being sold for scrap metal.
Witnesses have described seeing people dressed in utility gear using car jacks to pry open manhole covers. Anyone who notices this in their neighborhood is asked to call the police and alert Con Ed.
