(AP) -- Consolidated Edison says its customers used a record amount of natural gas during the recent cold snap in New York.

The utility says it provided 1.23 million dekatherms of gas on Saturday. The previous daily record was set two days earlier on Thursday when Con Ed provided 1.19 million dekatherms.



Con Ed provided customers with 1.2 million dekatherms on Sunday, making that day the second highest ever.

New York City temperatures fell to as low as minus 1 degrees over the weekend.
