Whether your running inside to escape the heat or trying to keep your house from feeling like a sauna without running up the bill - Con Edison has some tricks to help you keep cool this weekend.
The utility advises residents to set the air conditioner to a comfortable temperature, as every degree you lower the thermostat increases costs.
Run appliances when its cooler outside, including lights, ovens washing machines, dryers and dishwashers.
Con Edison also says to close shades and blinds, as 40% of unwanted heat comes through windows, use ceiling fans to provide additional cooling and keep air conditioning filters clean.
It says to remember that open doors let the cool air out so keep them closed.
