Con Edison worked to restore power across Brooklyn on Wednesday after a major snowstorm.
As of 11 a.m., the Con Ed outage map showed several pockets of power outages in the borough, including nearly 200 customers in Bed-Stuy.
News 12 saw a Con Ed crew working to restore power on Macon Street near Tompkins Avenue.
“We woke up today, after having power all day yesterday, without power in about half the house,” said Matthew Lewicki, of Bed-Stuy. “So, we’re running some extension cords through to keep certain things on. Luckily, the refrigerator's working.”
A Con Ed spokesperson told News 12 that the outages were “caused by melting snow mixing with road salt and seeping into underground electric equipment” and that significant snow on the ground and on top of equipment made working in the conditions a challenge.
The spokesperson said crews are working around the clock to restore power as quickly as possible.
