Coney Island opened to residents Thursday, marking the unofficial beginning of summer in Brooklyn.
Astroland might be gone, but visitors from near and far filled up the famous boardwalk to enjoy the remaining attractions and grab a bite to eat from local venders.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz on Thursday unveiled a list of big-name acts coming to Coney Island this summer, including Hall and Oates and Donner Summer.
