A construction company owner convicted of criminally negligent homicide in the death of a Brooklyn girl has been sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation.
Authorities say 5-year-old Alysson Pinto-Chaumana was outside of 444 Harman St. with her mother when a wall collapsed and crushed her skull on Aug. 30, 2019.
City Wide Construction & Renovations Inc. was handling construction at the building, according to authorities.
An investigation found that the owner, Nadeem Anwar, had committed numerous violations and was not authorized for work with the Department of Buildings.
The Brooklyn district attorney announced that Anwar has been sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation.
The DA says the ruling shows that there are serious consequences for contractors whose work endangers the public.
