Construction to continue after challenge of Pier 6 residential tower project
Construction is set to continue at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 after a judge threw out a challenge against two residential towers being built there.
The Brooklyn Bridge Heights Association lost its battle Friday against the Pier 6 project, which it claims far exceeds the park's fiscal needs.
Brooklyn Bridge Park says the two residential buildings are crucial to securing the park's financial future.
A New York Supreme Court judge Friday sided with that view.
The president of Brooklyn Bridge Park said, "In addition to critical long-term funding for Brooklyn Bridge Park guaranteed by (Friday's) decision, the Pier 6 project will also provide much-needed affordable housing and union construction jobs."
The Brooklyn Heights Association says that while it is disappointed and frustrated by the ruling, its fight against the project will not end.
