A beloved film and television studio is being gutted after 80 years in Brooklyn.
The old Vitaphone Studios on Avenue M in Midwood opened back in 1925, producing hundreds of movies and TV shows.
The building also changed hands over the years, and was even taken over by NBC in the 1950s, but now the nonprofit Ohel Children's Home and Family Services is moving in.
Community members say that it's a bittersweet transition and they hope the history of the building will be remembered.
Ohel plans to complete construction next year. Its facility will have 1,300 employees and offer dozens of free services for the community.
