A construction van crashed into a business along Route 17M in Monroe Thursday afternoon, after town officials say it was hit by a garbage truck.

Viewer video shared with News 12 showed the van slamming into the Insure One Insurance building.

Town Supervisor Maureen Richardson said the garbage truck appeared to hit the van, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the building.

Richardson said the town’s building inspector spent hours at the scene shoring up the structure and overseeing safety operations with Orange and Rockland Utilities.

Officials say gas and power were shut off to prevent any possible fire, electrical or other safety issues.

The van was later removed from the building.

Richardson says no one was seriously injured in the crash.

News 12 has reached out to New York State Police for additional information and is waiting to hear back.
