Wednesday's rain was noteworthy as nearly two inches fell across the borough. This is the most rain seen since mid-August of last year, nearly 200 days ago. Drought conditions have gotten worse, and this rain should at least briefly curb the drought getting even worse. The wind still remains and will again get stronger overnight and into Friday.
A Wind Advisory is now in effect across the entire borough, lasting through Friday 4 p.m. Gusts could exceed 45 mph, especially midday Friday. With the cold Canadian wind, it will feel frigid for Friday morning's commute. The actual lows will be near 35 degrees but feel like the low-20s. Highs get to near 50 degrees during the afternoon but feel no better than the low-40s.
The wind subsides a bit Friday night and Saturday, but will still gust between 20 and 30 mph, making it noticeable but not dangerous. It will be a seasonably chilly weekend with highs in the upper-40s, which is typical for this time of year. That all changes next week with a major pattern change. A late spring surge of warmth with 70-degree high temperatures are possible by midweek, especially on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures in the 60s are possible as soon as Monday.
