WEDNESDAY: A line of strong to possibly severe storms will move in during the 5 p.m. hour Wednesday. Heavy rain and potentially damaging gusts are expected for a brief time, but it could be impactful. Before the line of storms, an isolated shower or sprinkle is possible around 9-10 a.m. Then, rain showers move in around 3 p.m. from west to east, getting steadier and heavier through 5 p.m. Gusts could exceed 50 mph, so secure loose items and watch out for downed tree branches or twigs.
TOUGH COMMUTE: This will be much-needed rain, with up to an inch expected in total, as parts of the city are back to a severe drought. Unfortunately, it is only a brief burst of heavy rain, and at the worst possible time — during the evening commute. Since this is a fast-moving line of heavy rain and storms, the rain ends by 9 p.m. The wind remains behind the storm, however, with 30 mph gusts likely through the end of the workweek. It will get colder through Friday, with highs returning to typical early-March levels, in the mid-40s. There is a very low chance of some light rain on Saturday but expect the storm to miss us.
SPRING SURGE: A quick sneak peek at next week shows a chance for a late-Spring surge of warmth with 70-degree high temperatures possible by midweek next week. Stay tuned and follow Allan @AWxNYC for storm and warm weather updates.
