A disgraced NYPD cop appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court Wednesday to face charges relating to the alleged sexual assault of a teenager.
Officer Andrew Johnson faces sex abuse and official misconduct charges. A 17-year-old girl says Johnson picked her up off the street in Flatbush January 18 because she wasn?t in school and took her home where he allegedly attacked her. Johnson?s attorney is asking the judge to throw out phone records, which investigators used to confirm the girl?s claim. Johnson allegedly harassed the victim over her cell phone for days after the incident.
The victim and her mother are suing the city for $5 million. Her attorney argues the NYPD failed to properly supervise Johnson, who faces up to a year in prison if convicted.
