Brooklyn residents rallied outside the 66th Precinct this afternoon to thank the NYPD for all they do to protect the community.
Councilman David Greenfield says he organized the rally because the murders of officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were a reminder of the sacrifice police make to keep people safe.
His office staff handed out printouts of the NYPD badge with the black ribbon.
They say they want people to display the image in their windows as a sign of solidarity with the police department.
Greenfield noted the police department has been under fire lately with weeks of protests, but says it is still important to recognize the hard work of the NYPD.
