Councilman Salamanca hands out free coats to Bronx residents
New York City residents are bracing for the cold, but some families are having a hard time paying for what they need to keep them warm.
That's why Councilman Rafael Salamanca partnered with the Bronx Boulevard Business Improvement District to give out free coats this winter.
The event is taking place today at 10-70 Southern Blvd.
A total of 800 winter coats for children will be given out on a first come first serve basis.
All children must be accompanied by a guardian to receive a coat.
